10 Tips from Lisa Lambson

Think Like the Consumer

First and foremost, know the product you are writing about. Make notes to yourself while you are becoming famiiliar with it. Use it and become very knowledable about it and then "Think like a consumer". As you were becoming familiar with the product, what questions came up in your mind? Evaluate the product and determine what benefits there are and what solutions the product brings to a problem and address these things in your writing.

How to Begin CrossStitching

There are many ways that you can get started in cross stitching but if you try to do something too complicated the first time you try, you could become frustrated and give up. You would lose out on a wonderfully relaxing, creative hobby. Go to your local craft store or look online and find a very small, easy cross stitch kit to begin with. The kit will include everything you need to finish your cross stitch along with basic instructions to do it. Learn the basics working on your small kit and then being to move up to harder projects and learn more complicated stitches for your designs.

Why Should You Meditate?

The benefits of meditation far outway any reason that you can come up with not to meditate. Some people will say it is just hokey stuff and imitate someone chanting. They will never know the peace and clarity that meditating can bring you. Meditation will calm your emotions, heighten spiritual awareness and help you develop your ability to focus and concentrate. If you begin and end your day with meditation, you will find that you sleep better and have better energy throughout your entire day. It will be easier to make decisions and get things done as you mind will be clear and focused rather than bouncing from one thought to the next with no control. Once you become used to meditation, you will need to do it every day or you will feel like something is missing.

Don't Forget the Other Cities on CraigsList

The internet has brought a whole new world to freelancing. Many people that freelance have found their local CraigsList.com has some great opportunities to pick up freelance work. But why stop when you have checked all the opportunities in your local area? Check all the cities on CraigsList. That is the whole point of freelance work...it doesn't matter where the job is. You can do it from anywhere. So, keep on browsing all the cities and you will find many other opportunities to pick up work.

Natural Hair Remedy

Natural home remedies and solutions are becoming very popular. The benefits of using your own natural products have been coming to the forefront in the media such as no chemicals, no side effects, less expensive and they are better for the environment. So go green and start taking better care of your hair at the same time. A basic shampoo recipe can be made by boiling 2 cups of distilled water and removing from heat. Add 1 tablespoon calendula, 2 teaspoons rosemary, 1 tablespoon nettle, 2 teaspoons orange peel and 2 teaspoons chamomile. Allow to steep for 30 minutes and then strain into a medium sized bowl. Add 1/2 teaspoon lavender essential oil, 1 teaspoon jojoba oil (if you have dry or normal hair, skip if you have oily hair) and stir vigorously. Add 1/2 cup all natural, unscented baby shampoo and gently stir until mixed. Pour into a bottle and keep refrigerated. Shake gently before use.

The Benefits of Eucalyptus Oil on COPD

Eucalyptus is an evergreen tree native to Australia but is cultivated worldwide and is a very common essential oil used in holistic medicine, soapmaking and as an insect repellant. Anyone with asthma, COPD or enphasema can benefit greatly by inhaling steam vapors with eucalyptus oil in it as the vapors will function somewhat like menthol and will reduce syptoms of congestion. A small bottle of eucalyptus oil carried with you can help ease syptoms while you are away from home just by sniffing the vapors from the bottle. This will ease syptoms but should not be used as a means of rescue.

Stop Setting Yourself Up to Fail

Some people try to quit smoking over and over again with no success. Determined to quit, they pick their quit date, wake up on the morning of quit day, last a couple of hours and light up in frustration which leads to feeling like a failure and beating themselves up for being a loser that can't quit. Maybe a gentler approach would be a better option for these people. Instead of trying to quit cold turkey, start by smoking one less cigarette a day. Take as long as you need at each level and reward yourself for doing it. Try to eliminate some of the psychological ones before you get down to just one or two a day like the first one of the day or the one right after you eat. Do something else and put off that cigarette as long as you can stand it. Eventually, you will have less nicotine in your system to withdraw from and you will have started beating the pyschological part of addiction. Reward yourself when you do well and don't be too hard on yourself if you backslide, just keep going and eventually you will conquer it.

Odor Reducing Soap

Create your own homemade soap that reduces odors by adding coffee to your recipe. Coffee grounds are known for reducing kitchen odors like onion and garlic. Try it next time you make soap and see how you like it. Start with whatever basic soap recipe you like to use and add 3 Tablespoons of freshly ground coffee and 1 Tablespoon of powdered benzoin. Continue stirring the soap as it cools to prevent the coffee grounds from sinking to the bottom of the molds. Once it has cooled, pour into your molds.

Start With an Outline

Writers all have different methods of writing and what works for them but if you are a writer and you have never tried to begin your writing with an outline, it is worth trying. Some writers practically complete their first draft while completing their outline. Make your outline as detailed as possible including descriptions of settings and character descriptions and conflicts that will occur in your story. The more you add to your outline, the more your story will flow and you will be able to easily see where the story needs more work.

Who Should be Tested for Alpha-1 Deficiency?

Alpha-1 Deficiency is a genetic disorder that results in low levels of a protein called alpha-1 anntitrypsin or AAT in the blood. This disease can be treated but not cured and it can cause liver damage in children and lung disease in adults. There is a very simple blood test that can be done to determine if you have this disease or not and if you have any signs that you do have it, such as symptoms of liver disease or lung disease at a very early age or a family history of the disorder, you should be tested. The earlier that you know you have this disorder, the more you can do to slow its progression.
