Hands Off!
Try not to touch the front of your project with your hands. Hold the project by the hoop or by a portion of fabric that is folded with the right sides together. This will help keep your fabric clean.
Hoop Size
When ever possible use a hoop or frame large enough to fit the entire finished project inside. When this is not possible use a piece of muslin or other uncolored fabric (I use old white dishtowels torn into strips) and place it between your fabric and the hoop to preven the hoop/frame resting directly on to your finished work.
Clean Hands Make a Clean Project
Avoid using hand lotions or creams not designated as safe to use while stitching. They can rub off on the fabric and stain it. There are a variety of lotions on the market that are now considered to be safe for needleworkers. Check out Gloves in a Bottle, Udderly Smooth, and Needle Art Friend at www.NorthernNeedle.com. When working with silk threads it will be important that your hands are nice and soft!
